Black Stars skipper Jordan Ayew has praised Ghana’s next generation of footballers following their standout performances at the recently concluded Unity Cup in London.
With several regulars missing, head coach Otto Addo gave debuts to young talents including Christopher Bonsu Baah and Caleb Yirenchi.
Both players seized the opportunity, impressing fans and pundits alike.
Ayew, who led the team throughout the tournament, believes Ghana’s football future looks bright.
“The other players couldn’t make it but in Ghana we have a lot of talent, and the new players showed their quality in the two matches,” Jordan told Ghana FA media.
“There is always a need for us to try some new players. We trained only twice before the first game, but the boys looked ready, sharp and confident in the game against Trinidad and Tobago and that showed in our performance.
“Hopefully we have all the players back in the subsequent games so that we can fight for the points in the World Cup qualifiers.”
The Unity Cup featured four national teams and served as a testing ground for fresh talent ahead of upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September.
