Expressing disappointment in the wake of a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde in the Africa Cup of Nations group B opener, Jordan Ayew voiced frustration over lapses in concentration that allowed the opponent to score two sloppy goals.
Despite acknowledging the team’s relatively young composition, Ayew emphasized that they have been together for two years and must quickly regroup.
He urged the squad to adopt a positive mindset, recognizing the challenges ahead and the necessity to navigate the remaining two group-stage games with resilience
“I’m disappointed because I think we had the game in our hands. We always lack concentration of which our moment, scored two sloppy goals. As a team, we need to back up quickly because we can’t always say that it’s a young team. we’ve been together for two years and obviously is a tough night for us”
“We have two more games and we need to stay positive, we know we need to do it in the hard way, we don’t have a choice now so we do it the hard and see the outcome” he said.
Cape Verde are now top of Group D with three points.
Ghana will play Egypt next Thursday, 18 January at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny.
