Despite Ayew’s preference, it was Ousmane Dembele who ultimately lifted the award, capping a sensational 2024-25 season. The 28-year-old spearheaded Paris Saint-Germain’s first-ever Champions League triumph and helped the club secure four major trophies in total.
Dembele’s remarkable consistency across both domestic and European competitions saw him finish ahead of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé in the final standings, cementing his status as one of the world’s elite players.
