Following Ghana’s 4-0 loss to the United States of America, striker Jordan Ayew shared his insights on the team’s current situation.
The defeat exposed the challenges facing the Black Stars, who have a relatively new group of players, many of whom lack significant international experience.
Ayew emphasized the need for time to develop team cohesion, stating that the team understands the urgency of the situation.
While recognizing that building a strong team can take time, Ayew also acknowledged that football doesn’t always afford that luxury.
“First of all, I feel like we need a bit of time because it is a new group with a lot of new players and most of the players are inexperienced so it is not easy but we are working on it because we know we don’t have time and these type of game is a reality check,” he said.
“We know our level but we have to keep working hard to get this equation together and learn how to play together but it will come with time but we also know that football does not need time so we are pushing hard and trying our best to better our performance as a team and with time, it will come,” he added.
The United States secured a resounding victory with a Gio Reyna brace, a Christian Pulisic penalty, and a sublime finish by Folarin Balogun, making it one of their most notable wins against the Black Stars in Nashville, Tennessee.
Ghana will play Madagascar and Comoros in two FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November.
