FC Basel secured their 21st Swiss Super League crown on Sunday, defeating city rivals Young Boys 2–1 at St. Jakob-Park to finish the season two points clear at the top.
Ghanaian Defender Jonas Adjetey played a pivotal role in the decisive victory, providing an assist for the opening goal and energizing the attack throughout the match.
Basel’s triumph caps a turbulent campaign under head coach Alexander Frei, who steered the team to consistent form after a sluggish start.
Entering the final matchday level on points with their Bern rivals, Basel knew a win would guarantee the title and they delivered under the floodlights.

Adjetey, 22, made 28 league appearances this season, contributing five goals and eight assists. His sharp dribbling and intelligent movement on the right flank troubled Young Boys’ defence from the first whistle.
Though Young Boys fought back and equalized early in the second half, Basel regained composure.
A swift counterattack in the 75th minute ended with Adjetey’s low pass cutting inside to midfielder Luca Zuber, who slotted home the winner.
“Winning the Super League with Basel is a dream come true,” Adjetey said after the match. “The support from our fans was incredible, and we showed great character today.”
Basel’s title win also secures Champions League group-stage football for next season, while Young Boys and St. Gallen will join them in Europe.
For Adjetey, this milestone is just the beginning: with his performances drawing interest from clubs across Europe, the winger looks set for even bigger challenges ahead.
