Jonas Adjetey, a 21-year-old defender, is on the verge of realizing his lifelong dream of playing in the UEFA Champions League.
After helping FC Basel secure their first league title since 2017, Adjetey’s sights are set on Europe’s top club competition.
However, one final hurdle remains: navigating the Champions League play-off round to secure a place in the group stage.
Adjetey expressed his excitement and anticipation, reflecting on his journey to becoming a regular player for Basel:
“For me nothing really changed but I just tried to do my best and then try to fit in the first team… I came in and then I took my chance and then right from there, I built on it,” he told 3Sports.
Having grown up watching Europe’s elite compete, Adjetey is just two games away from being part of it himself.
His passion and determination have been evident all season, and he hopes to translate that energy into a historic breakthrough for both himself and the club.
The upcoming Champions League qualifiers are critical for Basel’s continental ambitions and Adjetey’s personal journey from aspiring footballer in Ghana to competing on European football’s biggest stage.
