John Mensah returned to full time action in Stade Rennes 2-0 away Ligue 1 win at Brest on Saturday.

The ex Ghana captain partnered compatriot John Boye in the heart of the Rennes defence to help them secure their first win in five matches.

Mensah returned to first team action last weekend after recovering from a series of injury setbacks.

His return to full time action thus serves a massive boost for Rennes’ Ligue 1 run in.

The ex Sunderland loanee’s return also brings him in contention for a place in the Black Stars team for June’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Mensah has over the years been very reliable for the Black Stars and could be making a return to the side after missing the 2013 Nations Cup due to his then inactive club career.
