German-born Ghanaian forward Jamie Leweling continued to shine in the Bundesliga, adding to his impressive goal tally with a crucial strike in VfB Stuttgart’s commanding 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 22-year-old proved pivotal in securing victory for VfB Stuttgart, who are in the hunt for UEFA Champions League qualification, as they produced a dominant first-half display to overcome their opponents, the Eagles.
The scoring spree began with Guinean forward Serhou Guirassy, who etched his name in the club’s history by netting his 25th Bundesliga goal, surpassing Mario Gomez’s record.
Denis Undav swiftly doubled the lead in the 17th minute, just six minutes after Guirassy’s opener, before Leweling sealed the victory in the 37th minute with his fifth goal of the campaign.
Leweling, who hails from Nurnberg and boasts Ghanaian heritage, has yet to make a senior international appearance for Germany, keeping the possibility of representing the Black Stars open.
Although named in former coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor’s squad for a Black Stars match, he was unable to honor the call-up. Nevertheless, Leweling has showcased his talent representing Germany at various youth levels.
