Ivory Coast-born Mohamed Diomande named in Ghana’s squad for friendlies against Nigeria, Uganda

Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, has extended an invitation to Mohamed Baba Diomande, a 22-year-old central midfielder of Ghanaian heritage born in Ivory Coast, to join the squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda.

Newly appointed head coach Otto Addo has included the talented ex-Right to Dream Academy graduate in the 26-man squad list for the matches scheduled later this month.

Diomande, who recently made a move to Scottish club Rangers FC, has accepted the call-up to represent Ghana at the senior level, showcasing his commitment to the national team.

The former FC Nordsjaelland captain had the option to play for either Ghana or Ivory Coast and had previously featured for the Ivorian U23 team in March 2023.

With two goals and an assist in 10 appearances for Rangers FC this season, Diomande brings skill and versatility to the Black Stars’ midfield.

Ghana is gearing up to take on Nigeria’s Super Eagles on March 22 followed by a match against Uganda on March 26 in international friendlies at the Stade Grade Marrakech in Morocco.
