Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong has revealed plans to visit Ghana, the homeland of his parents, for the first time.
Born in the Netherlands to Ghanaian parents, Frimpong has maintained a strong connection to his heritage despite opting to represent the Dutch national team internationally.
The 24-year-old has earned 11 caps for the Netherlands and scored one goal so far.
“My parents are Ghanaian, and yeah, so every time I speak with my parents, it’s Twi,” Frimpong said in an interview with Germany-based Nigerian reporter Oma Akatugba.
“They taught me the language, so when I’m home, I speak Twi with them. I’ve not been to Ghana yet but I will go soon.”
