Dutch-born forward of Ghanaian descent, Brian Brobbey, was overjoyed after netting his maiden English Premier League goal for AFC Sunderland in their 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Saturday evening.
The 22-year-old came off the bench to score a dramatic late equaliser at the Stadium of Light, rescuing a vital point for the Black Cats in their Week 11 fixture.
Speaking after the game, Brobbey expressed his relief and excitement at finally opening his account for the club.
“Oh, I know about the motto here — ‘’til the end’! Everybody always pushes till the end,” Brobbey said. “Granit told everyone in the last 10 minutes to keep going, and we could get something. It was a good header from Dan, and I was just in the right spot. So many emotions ; I’ve been waiting for this goal, and I finally got it. I’ve never heard anything like that noise in my career.”
With his first Premier League goal secured, the Ghanaian-Dutch striker will be eager to build on the momentum when club football resumes after the November international break.
