Asante Kotoko forward Kwame Opoku says he strongly believed he was going to be in the reckoning for Ghana’s Unity Cup tournament.
The Black Stars play Nigeria on May 28, three days after pitching camp in London.
Opoku is believed to be among a number of local players to have been called up for the four nation tournament, with Nations FC’s Razak Simpson, Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and Medeama right back Kamaradini Mamudu the rest.
Although Otto Addo is yet to release his official squad for the tournament, Opoku expressed his excitement while talking to Max TV.
“Looking at this call-up, it’s something I’ve been waiting for. Since the start of the second round, I’ve been doing quite well, so I was expecting it.”
“I felt very excited when I got called up. It made me very happy”
Kwame Opoku has scored a torn of goals for Kotoko in their pursuit for yet another Ghana Premier League crown.
