“It’s Difficult to Compare, But We Created More Chances” – Otto Addo on Black Stars’ Asian Tour

Black Stars coach Otto Addo admits that comparing Ghana’s performances against Japan and South Korea is not straightforward, due to tactical shifts and contrasting styles of play.

He noted that the team generated more opportunities in Seoul than in Nagoya, despite the 1-0 loss to South Korea. Operating under a different system, the Black Stars showed structural adjustments aimed at handling the hosts’ strengths.

“Japan were very strong, especially considering their recent win over Brazil. Today we had more chances, but the system and context were different,” Addo said.

South Korea broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute when Lee Tae-Seok headed in a Lee Kang-In cross. Ghana stayed in contention as Benjamin Asare saved a penalty from Hwang Hee-Chan. Later, goals from Kwabena Adu and Jonas Adjei Adjetey were ruled out for offside, as the Black Stars pressed late for an equaliser.
