The well-travelled German who coached Ghana in the past also thinks the competition for Africa’s five World Cup qualifying tickets will be the keenest in many years. “It’s a tough group for Ghana and if they are not careful the determination of Mali to achieve something might propel them. Ghana have a fine team and are favourites but that group will be a straight fight between them and Mali,” he told KickOffGhana.com. Pfister’s Cameroon are hoping to qualify for the sixth World Cup appearance in 2010, the most by an African team. That campaign begins in Accra where they play as guests of Togo. Pfister is confident his side can qualify but says like all the other groups it could go don to the wire. “There are no easy teams in Africa again so it will be a tough campaign. Across the groups there are at least two teams with a chance of making it through. But I stayed with this Cameroon team because I am confident we can qualify for the World Cup.”
