West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui has explained his decision to substitute Mohammed Kudus at halftime during their clash against Brentford, attributing it to tactical reasons.
The English Premier League week six encounter ended in a 1-1 draw at G-tech Community Stadium on Saturday.
Kudus has struggled to replicate his impressive debut season form, going six games without a goal or assist.
“It was a tactical decision. I was thinking we needed that. I was thinking that was better for the team and we needed these kinds of changes. The second half we worked as a team,” Lopetegui explained after the match.
Kudus signed a long-term contract with West Ham after joining from Ajax in a deal worth over £50 million, but it’s clear that adjustments are needed to help him rediscover his form.
The Hammers will host Ipswich Town at the London Stadium on October 5th in their next fixture.
