It is uncivilized put Otumfour on Kotoko jersey – Alhaji Grusah slams Asante Kotoko management

Owner and bankroller of King Faisal, Alhaji Grusah has taken a swipe at Asante Kotoko management, questioning their decision to put Otumfuo on their newly released jerseys.

The Porcupine Warriors on Tuesday released their 2022/23 Errea home and away kits.

The jersey comes in red and green with the Asanteman colors. The kits also have His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II’s picture printed on them.

However, Grusah, who is a veteran football administrator has raised questions saying it is uncivilized to have the picture of Otumfuo in the jerseys.

According to him, it undermines the greatness of the King and has asked the management of the club to go in for a change if possible.

“It’s uncivilized to have put ‘Otumfour’ on the Kotoko jersey,” he told Kumasi-based Kessben FM. “In fact, it’s a village thing. Otumfour is more than that, he does not go to war and lose.

“Maybe these Asantes don’t know how Otumfour is valued. Who doesn’t know he is the owner of the club? Which team does that in the world?

“We put sponsors on jerseys. This is not maturity, they already done it but they can still go back and change it,” he added.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will have their pre-season in Turkey ahead of the new football season. The Porcupine Warriors will also represent the country in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.
