Former Ghana Football Association Vice President George Afriyie has cast serious doubt on the Black Stars’ chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
After four qualifying matches, Ghana remains winless, with a disappointing record of one loss to Angola and a draw against Niger, followed by a doubleheader setback against Sudan.
The results left the team third in Group F with just two points and now trail second-placed Sudan by five points with two matches to go.
In an interview with Pure FM in Kumasi, Afriyie acknowledged that while anything could happen in the final matches, he believes Ghana’s qualification hopes are effectively over.
“It is football, and anything can happen, but for me, it is over for us,” he said.
“It’s worrying because the tournament has been expanded, yet we still struggle to qualify. To me, it’s a disaster.”
The upcoming fixtures will be crucial, with Ghana facing Angola on November 15 and Niger on November 18. The team is set to open camp on November 10 to prepare for these decisive matches.
