Internacional will aim to keep pace with the Brazilian Serie A frontrunners when they welcome Botafogo to Estádio Beira-Rio on Sunday.

With 12 games in the books, Internacional sit third – one point behind second-place Corinthians and four points behind first-place Palmeiras.

Meanwhile, Botafogo find themselves fourteenth – two points clear of the relegation zone and six points shy of Internacional.

Internacional head into Sunday’s clash on a mammoth 16-game unbeaten streak in all competitions, having last tasted defeat all the way back on April 10.

Since then, Internacional have claimed eight wins and eight draws. More recently, they have won three of their previous four Serie A games – scoring over 1.5 goals in each of those victories.

It is also worth noting that Internacional have lost just one of their 12 league games this season, picking up five wins and six draws in the process.

Having won five of their last eight clashes across all competitions, Internacional will be confident of dispatching struggling Botafogo without any real issues.

As for Botafogo, they finally ended a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Sao Paulo on Thursday.

Prior to their victory over Sao Paulo, Botafogo lost to Coritiba, Gois, Palmeiras and Avai while scoring just a single goal. They also conceded eight in the process.

When you look at the bigger picture, Botafogo have only managed to win one of their previous six league games – recording one draw and four losses along the way.

It is also worth noting that only six teams in the division have scored fewer goals than Botafogo this season, highlighting their struggles in attack.

Head-to-head: Internacional have won each of their last four games against Botafogo, scoring over 1.5 goals on three occasions.

Botafogo have only managed to win one of their previous six meetings with Internacional, suffering five defeats along the way.

Team news: Internacional have one injury worry at the moment, with centre-back Bruno Mendez expected to miss Sunday’s showdown.

As for Botafogo, they are currently without former Manchester United right-back Rafael as he continues to recover from an Achilles tendon rupture.

When you couple Internacional’s lengthy unbeaten streak with Botafogo’s poor recent form, all the signs point towards a home win on Sunday.

Forebet predicts that both teams will score. However, Internacional should have enough firepower to outscore Botafogo.
