Interim Kotoko coach not looking over his shoulders in title race

Interim Kotoko coach Michael Osei insists he’s not looking over his shoulders in the Premier title race.

Kotoko missed the chance to go top after drawing 0-0 with Bechem United.

The stalemate has sparked a wave of criticism targeted at Michael Osei as they trail arch-rivals and leaders Hearts of Oak by two points with 11 games to spare.

But the former New Edubiase assistant coach is urging patience from the club’s teeming supporters, insisting he’s not concerned about the title challenge from the capital-based side.

Interim coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Michael Osei has revealed that they are not bothered about the performance of their title rivals especially Accra Hearts of Oak.

“The supporters should back us with prayers because all is not lost because if you look at where we were, the players have done very well.” he told Accra-based Asempa FM

“We are left with 10 matches to go but for me, we are not disturbed about the performance of our title rivals especially Hearts of Oak. We only have to concentrate on our performance because this is a competition so we are not looking about the performance of others.

“With how things are going, I think that is how things are supposed to be but I know that we are part of the title contenders and I know we can win the league.

He added: “We should not discourage the spirit of the players simply because they drew with Bechem United because this is football and in football it is either win, draw or lose so I will say that let forget about everything and back the team with prayers because we have better chance of winning the league so I will urge the supporters to continue believe in us.

The Porcupine Warriors play as guest of Ebusua Dwarfs in Cape Coast on Wednesday.
