Asante Kotoko have suffered a major setback ahead of their continental campaign, with winger Peter Amidu Acquah sidelined for six weeks due to an ankle injury.
The enterprising attacker will miss the Porcupine Warriors’ CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round tie against Nigerian side Kwara United next month, as well as the start of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, which kicks off on September 12.
Acquah’s absence compounds Kotoko’s injury woes, with fellow winger Elvis Kyei Baffour also ruled out for the same duration after sustaining a similar injury.
“We have been dealt a double blow ahead of the second phase of our pre-season in Cape Coast, as wingers Peter Amidu Acquah and Elvis Kyei Baffour have both been ruled out for six weeks with ankle injuries,” a club statement confirmed.
Kotoko host Kwara United in Ghana between September 19–21 before travelling for the return leg from September 26–28.
Should they advance, they will meet Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in the second preliminary round, scheduled for October 17–19 and October 24–26.
