Black Stars striker Antoine Semenyo is likely to miss Ghana’s final round of 2023 AFCON Qualifying due to injury.
Semenyo suffered injury while playing for Bournemouth, causing him to miss their recent game against Chelsea.
The means his availability for the crucial matches against Madagascar on June 18 (away) and Central African Republic on September 4 (in Ghana) is in doubt.
Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil confirmed the unfortunate news, stating that Semenyo will also miss the remaining league fixtures.
“Antoine has had surgery, so he will be out until next season,” O’Neil explained.
“We’re hopeful that he recovers quickly and can have a good spell with the team before the season starts, but it depends on his recovery speed.
“The surgery went well, and we’re hoping for a speedy recovery because he can be a significant asset for us next season.”
The 23-year-old Ghanaian forward has made 11 appearances in the Premier League, scoring his debut goal against Leeds United a few weeks ago.
Semenyo also scored his first goal for Ghana’s Black Stars in the AFCON qualifier against Angola in March
