Inaki Williams vows to defend Black Stars shirt

Black Stars new boy, Inaki Williams has vowed to defend the Ghana jersey following his switching nationality.

The Athletic Bilbao forward finally availed himself to play for Black Stars on Tuesday evening.

Inaki posted a video on Twitter in which he said, “I want to return a small part of everything it has given to us because Ghana has played a significant part of becoming who I am as a person, as a son and as a brother.”

“Today a new challenge begins. From now on, I will defend Ghana’s shirt with all my will whilst I give my best. I’m one of the Black Stars.”

The 28-year-old will be available for selection in September’s 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Inaki Williams and his brother Nico, visited Ghana in June to establish connections with their roots and to expedite the nationality switch processes.

It is however unclear what dissuaded Nico from switching his allegiance to Ghana.
