Inaki Williams reflects on representing Ghana: ‘No regrets despite criticism’

Despite facing criticism for his performances, Inaki Williams remains resolute in his decision to represent the country of his parents and reconnect with his Ghanaian roots.

In an interview with Club del Deportista, the Athletic Bilbao forward expressed his lack of regret over the choice he made.

“I would never have imagined this,” Inaki remarked, reflecting on his journey. “I had to make a decision, and I don’t regret being able to represent the country of my parents and my family, to go back to my origins, to be able to travel more and see my loved ones in Ghana.”

Acknowledging that things haven’t gone entirely as planned, Inaki maintains a positive outlook. He believes that despite the challenges, both in terms of performance and personal adjustments, the experience has been enriching.

“It’s true that things didn’t work out as we’d all hoped,” he admitted. “But it’s true that on a sporting and personal level, it helped me a lot. In fact, I think I’m in one of my best moments thanks to this decision.”
