Ghanaian striker Inaki Williams led Athletic Bilbao as captain in their season-opening La Liga match against Getafe, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Williams played the full 90 minutes, showcasing his experience and composure as he guided his team through the encounter.
Bilbao took the lead in the 29th minute through Oihan Sancet’s goal, but Getafe fought back in the second half, with Chrisantus Uche scoring the equalizer.
Nico Williams, who has been the subject of transfer interest from top clubs, including Barcelona, came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute and made an immediate impact.
His late attempt was denied by a brilliant save from Getafe’s goalkeeper, David Soria.
The Williams brothers will have another opportunity to make their mark when Bilbao face Barcelona on August 24.
