Black Stars forward Brandon Thomas-Asante expressed disappointment after Ghana’s 2-1 loss to Nigeria in the 2025 Unity Cup semi-final.
The Coventry City striker’s goal narrowed the deficit, but Ghana fell short of reaching the final.
Thomas-Asante, who has Jamaican heritage, revealed his frustration, saying, “To be fair, on a personal note, I’m a little bit frustrated because I’m Jamaican as well, so I would have liked to do that one [play Jamaica in the final].”
Despite the setback, Thomas-Asante remains focused on the third-place match against Trinidad and Tobago. “In terms of playing against Trinidad and Tobago, you know, we go out there, the same attitude as always, try and win the game and put things right, which is what we want to do,” he said.
Ghana will now face Trinidad and Tobago at 15:00 GMT, with the aim of securing a respectable finish in the tournament. Thomas-Asante’s determination to win the third-place match shows his commitment to ending the campaign on a positive note.
