The match, scheduled for Sunday, May 25 at 15:00 GMT at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani, pits second-placed Gold Stars against fourth-placed Kotoko in a game that could shape the title race. Gold Stars trail league leaders Nations FC by just a point and need a win to keep their championship hopes alive.
Manso believes the extra time off; following a default win over Nsoatreman FC, who have pulled out of the league has helped his side sharpen up for what will be one of their biggest games of the season.
“We’ve had enough preparation. Last weekend, we didn’t play because of the Nsoatreman situation, so we did a lot of work then and this week, we’ve worked on a lot of things,” he said.
With the stakes high, Manso is urging his players to rise to the occasion, regardless of the reputation of the opponent.
“If you want to become a champion, it doesn’t matter the opposition, you need to also fight and win the game… that is what we should do; we should try and win the game,”
A win for Gold Stars would not only solidify their status as title contenders but also deal a significant blow to Kotoko’s own championship ambitions.
