“I still pray and believe he’s alive”– Christian Atsu’s wife

Christian Atsu’s partner Marie Claire Rupio has broken her silence following her husband’s disappearance.

On Monday, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, causing widespread devastation.

The Ghanaian international’s whereabouts remains unknown despite reports earlier in the week that he had been pulled from rubble and taken to hospital.

“What I know is that is that currently his agent is in Turkey and he’s trying to get to the place where it happened. They know where his building is and are trying their best to rescue everybody. They know that there are people under the rubble but the problem is that they don’t have the equipment necessary to get them out. So he’s still missing and we don’t know where he is” she said in an interview with the BBC.

Marie was however hopeful that the 31 year old will be found alive.

The couple got married in 2012 when Atsu was playing in Portugal for FC Porto.

Since then, they have welcomed three children. Two sons and one daughter.
