Former Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Chairman Kudjoe Fianoo has backed President John Dramani Mahama’s directive to make the Black Stars’ budget public.
Fianoo believes transparency is key to ensuring accountability, especially since the team’s budget is funded by taxpayers’ money.
President Mahama’s directive comes at a time when the Black Stars are struggling, with the President noting that the team has become a shadow of its former self.
To address this, Mahama has instructed the Minister for Sports and Recreation to hold the Ghana Football Association (GFA) accountable, particularly regarding the team’s budget.
“I side with the President on making every budget of the Black Stars public. Accountability is very key, and moreover it’s taxpayers money,” Fianoo said in an interview with Lawson FM.
The Black Stars will face Chad and Madagascar in March as part of the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
