Joseph Paintsil expressed relief after ending his goal drought with a brace in Los Angeles Galaxy’s 3-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps.
“It’s really important because I really needed this kind of momentum. I really needed these kind of goals,” he said.
Paintsil had been frustrated by missed chances but emphasized the importance of staying focused and positive.
“I feel sometimes a little bit disappointed in myself because of chances I need to score… But I always tell myself, never to look down on myself and just keep focusing on the right part.”
He views his struggles as a learning experience, saying, “In life, there is no failure. There is all a learning part. So it’s just a learning part for me to just focus and do what I enjoy and love to do as a footballer.”
With three goals in 14 matches this season, Paintsil hopes to lead LA Galaxy to a playoff spot after a slow start as defending champions.
He played a key role in the team’s MLS title win last season, scoring double figures in goals and assists.
Paintsil’s brace has boosted his confidence, and he’s now looking to build on this momentum in the upcoming games.
