I never said I will play for the Black Stars, I was misquoted – Asamoah Gyan

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has stated that he never said he wants to return to the Black Stars and play in the World Cup.

For some months now the conversation about the former Sunderland attacker has centered around his return to the squad.

Some have advocated for his swift return because of Ghana’s blunt attack and others have kicked against it.

Speaking to Angel Sports Baby Jet as he is popularly known in football circles said he was misquoted.

“I never said I will play for the Black Stars. I was misquoted. But if the people need me and there’s any motivation why not I can risk and come,”

Gyan is the all-time leading goalscorer of the Ghana national team, with 51 goals. He represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.
