Ghana defender Baba Rahman has denied retiring from international football despite a long absence from the Black Stars.
Rahman hasn’t featured for the national team since November 2023, following a incident where fans booed him during a match against the Central African Republic.
Although the booing didn’t affect him during the game, it hit him hard after the final whistle.
“The booing didn’t affect me during the match — as a professional, you learn to deal with that. But after the final whistle, as I walked to the team bus, it really sank in,” he said to Joy Sports.
Rahman took a break to focus on his physical and emotional well-being, citing injuries and the need for proper recovery.
“I hadn’t been fully fit for a while, and I felt it was the right time to focus on my body and recover properly,” he explained.
Rahman has moved on from the incident and confirmed his intention to return to the national team. “I’ll be back soon, God willing. I’ve stayed in regular contact with the coach… I’m working hard, and I’ll be ready,” he assured.
Rahman remains committed to the Black Stars and is working towards a successful return.
