Former president of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi says he had “kneel” and plead for the inclusion of Sulley Muntari in the Black Stars squad for the 2010 World Cup.
It has been reported then coach Milovan Rajevac had made up his mind not to add the former Inter Milan midfielder in the team to South Africa for reasons unknown.
Before the World Cup in 2010, Muntari had been excluded from the Ghana team at the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
He was on the verge of being left out again until Nyantakyi stepped in on his behalf.
“Yes, in 2010, I did it. I did it twice, not even once,” the former GFA President said in an interview with Joy News.
“I had to kneel for Sulley Muntari to be named in Black Stars for the World Cup.”
