Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Hon Okudzeto Ablakwa has endorsed the #SaveGhanaFootball demonstration organized by a group of journalists and football enthusiasts.
The demonstration is by sports journalists – Sports Obama (Saddick Adams),Veronica Commey, and Patrick Osei Agyemang.
Multitude number of Ghanaians are on the streets of Accra from Obra Spot to the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association to submit their petition on the declining state of football.
Among the concerns raised are the poor performance of Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, in recent African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments.
“Remember that I intercepted the document, the $8.5m budget [Black Stars AFCON budget]. If you see how much is going into football and yet we don’t have even FIFA standard pitches, no sports policy, Ghana football is in a mess and we cannot accept this. I fully endorse the SaveGhanaFootball demonstration,” Ablakwa said on JoyNews.
Ghana exited from the group of the just ended Africa Cup of Nations stage in Ivory Coast with just two points from possible nine points.
