Former Vice President of Ghana Football Association has expressed his dissent over the proposed autonomous Ghana Premier League.
The Status Review Committee in 2021 proposed for an autonomous which means Premier League clubs will be given to powers to govern themselves.
Afriyie has threatened to “quit football” should it be passed into the Statutes of the football governing body.
“One thing I’ve heard that I hope it’s not true is that the Status Review Committee have proposed an autonomous league where the membership of the premier league clubs will be given their powers to the board called autonomous committee,” George Afriyie told Kumasi based Oyerepa Sports.
“If these recommendations find favour at congress, I will quit football in this country.” He added.
Afriyie was the former Management Committee chairman of the U-20 and Black Stars.
He is the owner of Susubribi Football club in the Division One League.
