Hearts won’t push for replay of Kotoko game [Asempa FM SportsNite] —

Giants Hearts of Oak have declared that they won’t push for a replay of the matchday 24 clash against Kotoko after the Ghana FA Match Review Panel ruled that the victors were awarded a dubious penalty.

Cameroonian forward Franck Etouga Mbella netted in the 17th minute to hand victory to the Porcupine Warriors after referee Kenny Padi awarded a penalty against midfielder Abdul Aziz Nurudeen for fouling Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama.

Meanwhile, a Match Review Panel decision issued on Wednesday ruled that the referee awarded a bad penalty in favour of the home side after the Phobians officials protested against the performance of the referee.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s SportsNite show, Public Relations Officer for the 21-time champions, Kwame Opare Addo told Enoch Worlanyo that the club has exhausted all the available address channels.

“We officially wrote a protest against the performance of the referee on the day. As to whether we will push further or not, I think we have now pursued the matter to its limits,” he said.

The one-time CAF Champions League winners could have closed the points gap between the league leaders and themselves had they won the fixture.
