Hearts of Oak’s decision to allow coach Slavko Matic to get rid of players was wrong – Mohammed Polo

Hearts of Oak legend, Mohammed Polo is disappointed by the current form of the club.

Assessing what might be wrong, the Ghanaian tactician says that part of the blame should go to head coach Slavko Matic.

According to him, Hearts of Oak officials shouldn’t have allowed the Serbian tactician to get rid of players when he arrived at the club.

“How can a new coach just decide to sack players he thinks are aging without thorough knowledge about them? If you cannot adopt a technical direction that will suit the players available to you as a coach, you will always have problems and that is the exact problem Hearts is confronted with,” Mohammed Polo said in an interview with Akoma FM.

The club legend added, “The players at Hearts are fantastic but it’s the coach who needs to develop a strategy that will see Hearts winning. Sacking the players is not the solution.”

When Coach Matic arrived, he got rid of a number of first-team players including captain Mohammed Fatawu and top defender Mohammed Alhassan.

The services of the two players have obviously been missed especially in recent weeks when the club is struggling.

The Phobians are winless in the last two Ghana Premier League matches and also lost to Dreams FC in the Round 32 stage of the MTN FA Cup.
