Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has admitted that his team fought tooth and nail to avoid relegation in the just-ended Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians’ poor form had fans on edge, but a thrilling victory over Bechem United on the final match day secured their top-flight status.
The win propelled Hearts of Oak to 14th place on the table, a far cry from their usual dominance.
Speaking in an interview with Angel TV, the Ivorian tactician admitted they have accepted the challenge and will work hard to bounce back strongly next season.
“Unfortunately, we struggled to stay. It is part of life, part of the game. We accept that challenge. We are going to work hard to come back,” said Ouattara. “I can’t say it is okay. It is part of the game. We are 18 teams. Everyone is struggling to get a good position,” he concluded.
Hearts of Oak ended the season with 11 wins, 12 draws, and 10 defeats from 34 games.
