Hearts of Oak, Legon Cities lead the league in unwanted stat

Hearts of Oak and Legon Cities find themselves atop of a unwanted League statistic after the first round.

Twenty-two red cards have been shown by referees in total after 17 rounds of matches in the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League season.

Hearts and Cities account for six of them with both clubs receiving three each.

Tamale City, Asante Kotoko and Karela United are in second place with two each.

While Bibiani Gold Stars, Medeama, Samartex, Kotoku Royals, Bechem United, Dreams FC, Berekum Chelsea, Real Tamale United, and Accra Lions have all seen a player sent off once in the ongoing campaign.

King Faisal and Nsoatreman remain the only clubs in the top-flight division not to have a player expelled so far.

A  total number of Five Hundred and Eighty-five (585) yellow cards were shown in the 153 games played thus far.

The second round of the League will kick start on Friday, February 17, 2023 when Medeama SC face off with Legon Cities at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa.
