Hearts of Oak’s head coach, Martin Koopman, acknowledged that his team fell short in their efforts to secure all three points in their recent match against Karela United on Saturday.

In a Ghana Premier League fixture held at the Aliu Mahama Stadium, the Phobians played to a 1-1 draw with Karela on matchday 9.

The game got off to an early start as Emmauel Owusu Boakye scored for the home team in the 6th minute.

However, Hearts of Oak managed to level the score at 1-1 when Hamza Issah guided Salifu Ibrahim’s cross into the net in the 40th minute.

Despite the spirited performance, both teams had to settle for a single point as the scoreline remained unchanged at full time.

Speaking in his post match interview, Koopman conceded that while there was a measure of fighting spirit, it wasn’t sufficient to secure a victory.

“I think everybody wants to win from Hearts of Oak and also this team wants to win. Fighting spirit; a lot of fighting spirit. We bring a little bit of fighting spirit but not enough to win this game” he told StarTimes.

The Phobians currently hold the 9th position in the league standings with 10 points.
