The Phobians have opened a nine-point gap in the Glo Premier League but were one of the most active clubs in the March transfer window signing two ex-internationals and a few returnee players in the process. The Phobians have added former Black Stars midfielder Hamza Mohammed to their side after he returned from a stint in Romania and brought back Stanley Afedzie from Libya where he played for Al-Ittihad for two years. But their biggest capture has been Sammy Adjei the former first choice goalkeeper of the Black Stars who comes with a CV that includes three Nations Cup appearances and a Champions League winner’s medal. There are those who argue the purchases will offset the balance in the team and unnerve some of the young players such as goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy but Hearts vice chairman Frank Nelson insist that is not the case. “No matter how well we have done, there is always room for improvement so it would not have been wise to pass up the chance to sign some of these good players.” he told KickOffGhana.com. “We trust that the coach will be able to make the best choices on form without sticking to names.” Hearts will have the first opportunity to use the players in a competitive setting when the Premier League resumes on May 2.
