Senegal have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of the 2022 World Cup which kicks off in Qatar this month.
With just 11 days to go, Captain and Talisman Sadio Mane has been ruled out of the global showpiece, according to a report published by French Newspaper L’Équipe.
The forward was substituted with an injury in the opening half hour of Bayern Munich’s match against Bremen on Tuesday.
Further test carried out today has confirmed the former Liverpool star will miss the tournament which is set to take place from November 20 to December 18.
Senegal were crowned continental champions in February and are 18th in the world rankings heading into Qatar, having been Africa’s top-ranked side since November 2018.
They are in Group A alongside host nation Qatar, Netherlands, and Ecuador.
