Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew has described his father, Abedi Pele as his ‘idol’.
Pele is regarded as one of the most successful Ghanaian footballers of all time following his exploits with Ghana and at club level.
He made 73 appearance for the Black Stars and scored 19 goals.
The former Olympique Marseille star won the UEFA Champions League with the club in 1992/93 season.
“I take a lot if not every inspiration from him. He is my idol and an unbelievable father,” Andre Ayew said on Gtv sports plus.
The former Swansea City play maker joined Al Sadd in Qatar last year, a club his dad played for in 1982/83 football season.
Ayew is expected to lead the Black Stars of Ghana to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar coming November
