As Thomas Partey prepares to leave Arsenal at the end of June as a free agent, Ghanaian politician Gabby Otchere-Darko has voiced strong criticism of the club’s handling of the midfielder’s situation.
The Gunners agreed a fee of £10m plus add-ons to sign Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard as replacement for the Ghanaian.
In a post on X, he wrote, “The Thomas Partey I know has not left Arsenal because of more money. It is more because of disrespect.”
According to him, the club prioritized finding a replacement over securing Partey’s future, despite being aware of his expiring contract.
“His preference would have been to stay in London with his young and growing family,” he added.
Negotiations over a new deal had taken place but ultimately led nowhere, leaving the Ghana international set to walk away for free.
“I love Arsenal but Thomas deserved better and he will be dearly missed.” Otchere-Darko said.
Partey joined the Gunners in 2020 and, despite injury setbacks, remained a key figure in midfield when fit.
