Harry Zakkour hits out at Hearts over ‘armchair’ transfer approach amid growing crisis

Ex-Hearts chairman Harry Zakkour has fired his latest salvo at the club for their ‘armchair’ transfer approach.

The club’s supporters are livid with their lack of transfer activity, less than two months for the start of the new season.

The angry fans chased out former Kotoko defender John Kuffuor from the team’s training ground on Tuesday amid a growing disquiet in the transfer front.

Hearts have been the least active of all the Premier League clubs in the current window as they struggle to land their targets.

They have failed in their bid to sign Latif Salifu, Kennedy Ashia, Stephen Adams and Ernest Sowah.

Despite being linked with a host of high-profile players for much of the transfer window, no deal has as yet materialised.

And outspoken former chairman Harry Zakkour has launched his latest attack on the club’s management for their ’armchair’ approach to recruitment.

“Sometimes, it’s not the money to recruit the player. It’s how to go to the house, how to talk to the player, how to convince the family and how to sign contracts with the players. By you sitting in your office, you will fail,” he told Accra- based Starr FM.

“If you need a horse, you have to go outside to buy the horse, to go and see which stable the horse is sitting in. It’s not for you to send people to go and bring you the horse.

“In my time, we even travel to Sunyani if we need a player from BA or Bofoakwa. I go there all the way, stay in a hotel, convince them and bring to Accra. Now, it’s not like that because they are not doing the job.”

Hearts supporters have been increasingly frustrated after being left to play catch-up in the Ghanaian top-flight in the last six years.
