Harry Maguire’s position at Man United in limbo

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire isn’t being promised a starting place in Erik ten Hag’s side come next season.

Maguire has come under close scrutiny by United fans this season where he has been accused of underperforming in games with the situation getting worse in April when someone went ahead to plant a bomb in his family home.

According to Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy, the club will be open to offers for players like Wan Bissaka with Maguire’s position at the club in jeopardy as ten Hag looks to revamp his defence.

“The club are open to offers for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Harry Maguire retaining his place in the starting XI – let alone the captain’s armband – is in jeopardy. Marcus Rashford has been horribly off form and Bruno Fernandes switched from a transformative figure to a largely frustrating one,” Reddy wrote.

There have been reports that ten Hag will be looking to hand the armband to Cristiano Ronaldo for the new season something that might push Maguire further below the pecking order.

Apart from Ronaldo, the armband debate has raged on with others urging the Dutchman to hand it to goalkeeper David de Gea but with the manager yet to be convinced by the Spaniard’s ball distribution, there are reports that he might sign another keeper as a cover.
