Harrison Afful’s Turkish suitors Mersin Idmanyurdu in DEEP financial crisis

Mersin Idmanyurdu – the Turkish side seeking to sign Ghana defender Harrison Afful are in DEEP financial crisis, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

Players and officials have not been paid for five months with a mounting debt crippling the European club, fresh reports have emerged.

Officials of the Turkish have been keen on signing Afful, who recently joined American Major Soccer League side Columbus Crew.

Afful, 29, enjoyed a fabolous debut season, prompting Mersin Idmanyurdu to tempt him with a mouth-watering offer which include tripling the wages he earns at the MLS side.

But fresh reports have emerged that the Turkish side are in financial quagmire and may not have the financial warchest to fulfill their contractual obligation.

Afful himself has insisted he’s happy at Crew and has no intention of leaving the club.

It does appear the deal will not materialise with the Ghana international expected to stick with the MLS Cup finalists.
