Hearts of Oak bounced back to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory over Nations FC in Saturday’s Ghana Premier League encounter.
The result ended a brief rough patch for the Phobians and reignited their push at the top end of the table.
Hearts started on the front foot and dominated the opening exchanges, controlling possession in the first 20 minutes.
Despite that early authority, clear-cut chances were scarce, with Abdul Karim’s speculative long-range strike the closest they came to breaking the deadlock in the opening quarter.
The breakthrough eventually arrived when Hamza Issah rose highest to power home a header from a precise delivery by substitute George Paaku, finally breaking the resistance.
Moments later, Hearts nearly doubled their advantage, but a mix-up between Issah and Hussein Mohammed allowed Nations to escape further punishment.
Nations attempted to respond late on, yet their lack of cohesion in the final third played into Hearts’ hands as the Phobians managed the closing stages effectively.
The hard-earned victory lifts Hearts of Oak to third place on the league table, just three points behind leaders Aduana FC.
With momentum restored, the Phobians will now look to build consistency as the title race continues to tighten.
