Ghana’s all-time leading scorer Asamoah Gyan has stepped into a mentorship role for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, guiding the in-form striker as he continues his remarkable rise in the Premier League.

Over the past six months, the two have formed a strong bond, with Gyan frequently reviewing Semenyo’s performances and offering tactical and personal advice.

Acting as an elder brother figure, the former Sunderland striker is helping the 25-year-old manage his career decisions and maintain focus amid growing interest from top-flight clubs.

According to SunSport, Gyan has cautioned Semenyo against rushing into a transfer, stressing that patience and the right timing could see him make a successful move to a major Premier League side.

It comes as little surprise that Semenyo looks up to Gyan, who remains Africa’s all-time top scorer at the FIFA World Cup and enjoyed a notable stint with Sunderland before his move to Al Ain in the UAE.

This season, Semenyo has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers, trailing only Erling Haaland in the goal-scoring charts.

His new Bournemouth contract, signed last summer, is said to secure improved wages and protect the club’s valuation, though sources suggest serious offers next summer will still be entertained.

A source close to Semenyo revealed that having Gyan as a mentor has made a visible difference in the forward’s maturity.

Semenyo will hope to continue his form against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, November 2.
