The Ghanaian striker is yet to start a premiership game and has been mostly used off the bench despite his record 13million pound signing.
His only start so far has come in the Carling Cup but the former Liberty Professionals striker says he understands the thinking of his club boss.
“I did not go on pre-season training with them, I had to change countries, pack and unpack so naturally I am not at the same pace and the same level as the rest of the squad,” he told KickOffGhana.com.
“Now though I am ready to play so it will be the boss’ decision.”
England is the third country Gyan is playing in after spells in Italy and France and says the significant difference in England is the sheer physical nature of the game.
“It’s more physical in England whereas Italy and France is more tactical. In England the referees don’t blow their whistle often. They don’t offer you much protection.”
