Greater Accra Region finished their campaign at the maiden MTN Elite U19 Championship on a high, clinching the bronze medal after a 2–0 victory over Ashanti Region in Sunday’s third-place playoff at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
After a cagey first half, the capital side came alive in the second, showing superior energy and tactical discipline.
Their persistence paid off just two minutes after the restart when Yussif Saani coolly slotted home a penalty to hand Greater Accra the lead.
The momentum remained with them, and ten minutes later, Mustapha Bunyaminu sealed the win with a composed strike in the 57th minute.
Greater Accra’s bronze medal marks the culmination of an impressive run in the competition.
Over the 11-day tournament, they stood out for their creativity, teamwork, and attacking flair, firmly establishing themselves among the nation’s brightest young football prospects.
The MTN Elite U19 Championship, held from October 23 to November 2, 2025, brought together ten regional teams from across Ghana.
Beyond the medals, it provided a key platform for emerging footballers to showcase their potential and catch the eye of scouts and national selectors.
